‘A lifestyle home’ with an environmental focus. The client required the design solution to satisfy standard kitchen functions with good common sense thinking for storage for all areas as well as satisfying the provision for entertainment, indoor outdoor bar and BBQ facilities, adequate standing sitting space for the visitors, a breakfast bar, easy access to the dining space and flow through to all areas. Visually the design needed to resonate well with the personality and personal tastes of the client a masculine approach to the aesthetics including a keen eye for sustainable materials. The brief was three fold and was also to satisfy the tastes of the building company that managed the project for the reasons of marketing their company through this project over the next 2 years. Lastly the kitchen design was required to fit within the footprint of building design provided by the architect and liaison with him was part of the commission. The kitchen needed to have a wow factor that would inspire future clients of all the companies that had a vested interest in the environmental project.
